Lighthouse Credit Union Launches Food Drive as Foundation Donates $125K to Fight Food Insecurity

Community Members Invited to Donate at Any Lighthouse Credit Union Branch

Lighthouse Credit Union and its Foundation will kick off their annual food drive on December 1, 2025 supporting food pantries across New Hampshire and Maine. With food resources in high demand, the Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation is also donating $125,000 to local and state nonprofits addressing food insecurity, including the New Hampshire Food Bank, Red’s Good Vibes, and Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Throughout December, every Lighthouse Credit Union branch will serve as a community drop-off site, featuring donation tables and information about local food pantries benefiting from the effort. Community members can contribute non-perishable items such as soups, pasta, cereal, healthy snacks, canned protein, canned vegetables, and shelf-stable milk from December 1–31.

Recently, the credit union and its Foundation have expanded their community outreach by turning the Dover headquarters into a food distribution site in partnership with SNAPBack Seacoast, which has been a supplementary resource to help local food pantries during this challenging time.

In response to the government shutdown specifically, Lighthouse Credit Union is offering 0% APR and 3% APR personal loan options through November 28 to federal employees impacted. For details, please call us or visit www.lighthousecu.org/lp/government-shutdown. To date, the credit union has assisted 465 members and provided more than $2.2 million in assistance to federal workers.

“Our mission is to enrich and nourish the lives of others,” said Emily Moore, Advancement Director for the Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation. “In these challenging times, many of our neighbors are seeking assistance for the very first time. As more families face food insecurity and financial hardship, we’ve activated resources to help our nonprofit partners meet those increased needs—through partnerships, donations, and direct support. This December’s food drive continues that mission, helping ensure our community has access to what they need most.”
