Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Applications Now Open for 2025-2026 Academic Year
Total of $53,000 in college scholarships, including a new $10,000 award funded by team members
The Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation has officially opened the application process for its annual scholarship program, providing a total of $53,000 in financial support to university students for the 2025-2026 academic year.
This year, the Foundation is offering a new Lighthouse Community Beacon Scholarship, which will award $10,000 to one exceptional student-member applicant. This scholarship is designed to support individuals who are passionate about creating change in the areas of affordable housing, food insecurity, and/or education—critical issues that the credit union actively supports to make a positive impact in the communities it serves. Funded by a voluntary employee deduction program, the Lighthouse Community Beacon Scholarship is a reflection of the Foundation’s ongoing mission to enrich and nourish the lives of others—an effort that is fully embraced by the credit union’s team members.
The Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation remains committed to supporting the educational goals of its student-members. This scholarship program recognizes and rewards individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement and a commitment to making a positive difference.
“We are excited to launch a more comprehensive scholarship program this year, which includes the newly created Lighthouse Community Beacon Scholarship funded by our team members,” says Dan Raposa, Executive Director for the Lighthouse Credit Union Foundation. “This scholarship program not only supports the educational aspirations of our student-members but also reflects our spirit of giving and community support, where employees actively contribute to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve, reinforcing our dedication to fostering stronger, more vibrant communities for everyone.”
From January 21 to March 14, 2025, student-members of the credit union are invited to apply for the available scholarships to assist with their educational endeavors. These scholarships are designed to assist and encourage students pursuing accredited programs at technical institutes, 2-or-4-year colleges, as well as vocational and trade schools.
Student-members in good standing, who joined the credit union on or before January 21, 2024, can choose from six scholarship options, offering a total of 16 opportunities for financial support.
Scholarship offerings:
- Lighthouse Community Beacon Scholarship (1) $10,000 award
- Peter Kavalauskas Memorial Scholarship (1) $5,000 award
- Philip W. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship (1) $5,000 award
- Roger G. Marois and Bart M. Dalla Mura Memorial Scholarships (2) $3,000 awards
- Adult Achievement Scholarship (1) $2,000 award
- Nourish Scholarships (10) $2,500 awards
