Lighthouse Credit Union Adopts the Lighthouse at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field to Support Local Nonprofit
Funds to be Donated for Every Winning Run and Home Win During the Sea Dogs’ 2025 Baseball Season, Aiding Food Security and Homelessness Initiatives.
Portland, ME – April 7, 2025 – Lighthouse Credit Union and its Foundation have partnered with the Portland Sea Dogs to “adopt” the iconic lighthouse at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field. Lighthouse will use this beacon as an opportunity to raise awareness and funding for Preble Street, a Portland nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families across Maine facing homelessness, hunger and poverty.
“We’ve been proud sponsors of the Sea Dogs for several years and when we rebranded, we saw an opportunity to do something meaningful with their iconic lighthouse,” said Ryan Grace, VP of Brand for Lighthouse Credit Union. “Aligning with our mission to support food security and affordable housing, we collaborated with the team to create an initiative that benefits both the Sea Dogs and the Portland community. Preble Street’s ongoing work made them a natural fit for this year’s season.”
After each winning run and Sea Dogs’ home victory, the lighthouse will illuminate in celebration, announcing that Lighthouse Credit Union will be donating funds to Preble Street, up to $10,000, during the 2025 season. This new initiative by Lighthouse Credit Union and the Sea Dogs aims to raise awareness of Portland’s community needs with Preble Street being the first recipient of this partnership.
“We could not be more honored to be the first nonprofit to benefit from Lighthouse Credit Union’s lighthouse initiative,” says Ali Lovejoy, Vice President of Mission Advancement, Preble Street. “The symbolism is extraordinary, as this partnership allows us to shine a light on the critical work that Preble Street does to help vulnerable people in Maine find safety, food, support and housing. We’re truly grateful for Lighthouse Credit Union and its Foundation for this opportunity to work together to ‘build a better future for all’.”
In addition to the lighthouse initiative, Lighthouse Credit Union will be kicking off its annual Nice Catch Program. This program recognizes young individuals under 17 years old and under who demonstrate kindness and service within their communities. Nominated by peers or family members, selected recipients will be acknowledged for their efforts with the opportunity to throw out the celebratory pitch at a Sea Dogs game this season. Additional details and nomination forms can at lighthousecu.org/about/nice-catch.
The Portland Sea Dogs’ season kicked off on Friday, April 4. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held during the home-opening weekend on Saturday, April 12 to commemorate the partnership and these initiatives.
