How to Reduce Stress at Home
Now that many are working from home full-time, kids are schooling remotely, and there is limited ability to go out and about, it is more important than ever to carve out time to de-stress and relax.
Meditation
There are several apps that can guide you through meditations. Whether you have 5 minutes or an hour, a few moments to center yourself, relax your eyes, and take deep breaths can have the ability to set your morning up for success, or reset the rest of your afternoon. A great place to start the app, Headspace.
Take a Walk
Walking may be one of the more underrated exercises. It is low impact and only requires a short period of time to reap the rewards. Studies show that benefits include boosting your mood, stretching those sedentary muscles, burning calories, and improving sleep. Set aside time on your lunch break or even stand up and walk in place for a bit, you won’t regret it!
Namaste Your Day
Finding time for a daily yoga flow can do wonders for the mind and body. No matter your line of work or day to day routine, yoga offers you a way to stretch out your hard-working muscles. Much like walking, yoga offers major benefits including boosting your mood, improving your flexibility, and even helping to relieve pain.
Create a Safe Space
You don’t need an extra bedroom in order to carve out a space that is just your own. Perhaps it is a small corner of your bedroom… or even a small spot next to a window. Give yourself a place to go when those overwhelming feelings sink in. Remove yourself from the stress and place yourself somewhere relaxing to take a break. Here are great ideas for getting started!
Now, more than ever we need to focus on our mental health. If you are looking for permission to take a little “me time”, permission granted! It is okay to call for a break, ask for help, or carve out time for yourself.
