Chef Walsh Didn’t Let the Pandemic Stop Him From Teaching

The Culinary Arts can be a tough curriculum to teach from a video conference, but Chef William Walsh, a professor at Lakes Region Community College, stepped up to the challenge! During the pandemic, when classes couldn’t take place in-person, Chef Walsh made sure his students had all the tools they needed to continue learning, by delivering boxes of foods them and providing step by step instructions on how to prepare their meals for class.

Chef Walsh didn’t just provide the students with the ingredients and knowledge to help them succeed, he also made sure there was enough food to feed their entire family. During a pandemic with many people struggling with layoffs, teaching their children or taking care of sick relatives, not having to worry about providing one meal for their family was probably a major relief.

Because of his dedication to the students and making sure that they have the education that they deserved dedication, Chef Walsh was chosen as one of our 2020 Teachers Who Wow.
