Kate Is an Advocate For Her Students

For Kate Sisneroz, teaching is a passion rather than an occupation. Kate is the Director of Education at the Monarch School of New England in Rochester, NH, where she started as a teacher in 2001. The Monarch School is a school designed for students with severe developmental disabilities. As Director of Education, it is Kate’s responsibility to communicate with parents as well as other school districts to ensure that the needs of all present and future students are fulfilled to ensure that they receive the best education experience possible.

While Kate’s job title requires her to spend more time in an office than a classroom, that does not stop her from spending as much time as she can with students. On any given day, Kate is seen having lunch with students, helping out with classroom activities, or simply taking the extra time to learn about students and their families and how she can support them. Whatever the context, students’ faces light up as soon as Kate walks in the room.  Kate’s philosophy is that learning occurs everywhere; classroom, community, and within simple daily interactions. She shares this philosophy with her fellow educators and it has had a positive effect on her students.

Because of her compassion for her students, Kate was chosen as a winner of Northeast Credit Union’s Teachers That Wow contest. We support her love of education as well as her work as an advocate for students with disabilities.
