Protect Your Accounts With Strong Passwords

//
Portsmouth, New Hampshire

In the digital world, passwords are the gateway to almost everything you do online. Crafting strong passwords can be the key to safeguarding your accounts against malicious hacking attempts.

Here are a few practices to help you create strong passwords and protect your accounts:

  1. Make your passwords strong. Strong and unique passwords make it significantly more difficult to hack into your accounts. Strong passwords are considered over 8 characters in length and contain a mixture of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. If you’re worried about forgetting your password, consider using unique phrases instead of birthdays and pet names.
  2. Use different passwords for different accounts. It can be tempting to use the same password for every account to avoid forgetting them, but this makes it easier for hackers to break several of your accounts.
  3. Never reveal your passwords to others. Your login credentials are your first line of defense in protecting your information, and nobody needs to know them but you. If someone is asking for your password, it’s probably a scam.
  4. Change passwords regularly. Changing your passwords regularly is a good practice to help deter hackers, and keep your accounts safe.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the extra security measures we offer through Digital Banking, including account alerts, notifications, and multi-factor authentication as an added layer of protection for all of your Northeast Credit Union accounts.
